Recalled Meat Used in Local Health Facilities

Northern Health has issued a notice cautioning that some health facilities under its authority may have served Maple Leaf products contaminated with Listeria. The notice lists a number of local hospitals and long term care facilities which have confirmed that they received recalled products from Maple Leaf Foods, including Fort St. John General and the North Peace Care Centre. Northern Health urges high risk groups – including the elderly, the very young, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant women – to contact their health provider if they believe they’ve consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms such as persistent fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness, nausea and vomiting. More information is available at Northern Health’s website.
