Police are continuing to warn the public of a recent scam involving an advertisement in a local paper for purebred puppies.
The ad offered English bulldog and Yorkie puppies for sale for a low price and provided an email address to contact for more information.
Police say this scam is well-known to law enforcement, and reports of the fraud in North America date back as early as 2006.
Victims report sending money to the seller, who demands more money before eventually cutting off contact without delivering the animal as promised.
The ad has been removed, but RCMP urge anyone who has responded to the ad not to send money.
