The Fort St. John Paladin Black Sox had a very busy weekend. On Saturday they travelled to Grande Prairie to begin their bestof five final series against Grande Prairie.

The Sox weretied at 8-8 after seven regulation innings. In the 8th Ryan Stickel blasted a two run homer and Matt Shuya hit a solo blast en route to a 12-8 victory. Stickel picked up the victory.

The second game saw Grande Prairie come back strong, hitting 5 homers and winning 9-1.

On Sunday, the Grande Prairie Cougars were the visitors in Fort St. John. In the third game of the series, Ryan Stickel was the starting pitcher going seven strong innings, giving up 2 hits and one walk. Paladin got contributions on the bats from all their players and ended up cruising to a 6-0 win.

In the second half of Sunday’s double header, Grande Prairie had jumped up to a two run lead half way through the second inning. In the bottom of the second, Fort St. John’s potent offense came to life scoring six runs, ledby Justin Bolog’s three run homer. The score remained 6-2 until G.P. managed to add another in the fifth inning.Paladin held them there and the game endedwithascore of 6-3. Jordan Shipton got the series clinching win, going seven strong innings.

In just their second year, the Paladin Black Sox are the Wheatbelt League champs!! Congratulations to the boys and thank you to the many fans who came out and supported the team throughout the season!
