The Supreme Court has approved the sale of the Mackenzie pulp mill. A numbered BC company made the bid for the mill that employed around 251 people.
The numbered company is operated by Worthington Properties in Alberta.
Twenty million dollars was the offer for the facility that included an agreement that will see Canfor continue to supply chips. Canfor can still appeal that decision and has until September 2nd to decide.
Canfor closed its mill in Mackenzie back in June of this year.
The final price could change, if the status of the chip supply agreement changes. The company will even assume all assets and all liabilities, including the monies owed to employees. The deal is expected to close on September 22nd, 2008.
