RCMP Constable Jeff Jackson wants you to turn in your associates – for good.
The Fort St. John officer is riding again in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de North, the September 5th to 11th event that will see more than 24 Northern B.C. police officers cycle 826 kilometres from Prince George and Prince Rupert to raise money for kids with cancer.

Jackson hopes to raise at least $10,000 before the tour, and he expects to put a lot of folks in the clink while he’s at it.
On September 3, he’s holding a Jail’n’Bail fundraiser at the Totem Mall. For anyone who wants to teach someone a lesson, it’s a golden opportunity.
By completing “complaint” forms (available at local businesses and at the RCMP detachment) and donating to the Canadian Cancer Society, you can nominate people to be “arrested” for any offence you can dream up. Your offender will be rounded up by police, “jailed” in the Totem Mall pen, and asked to pay a set “bail” by donating. Those who can’t will be encouraged to start calling their friends.
Last year’s Jail ’n’ Bail was spectacularly successful. “Offences” got creative, and included posing as a senior to snag seniors’ discounts, using sarcasm as weapon, failure to meet height requirements, being the second best realtor in town, and admitting to being from Newfoundland.
“We couldn’t even keep up with demand. At one point, we had 18 people in our 10- by 20-foot jail,” recalls Jackson. The result: close to $30,000 for the Society. “We were so proud of the generous residents and businesses of Fort St. John.”
