The RCMP still has not yet determined the whereabouts of two persons, who may have been residing in the Columbus Hotel in downtown Prince George, when itwas destroyed by fire early yesterday morning.

Police say the old landmark, 3 storey brick building was home to about 10 long-term tenants, six of whom had to be rescued by ladder by firefighters.

Initial reports have indicated that 3 people were sent to hospital, one with serious injuries, the other two suffering from smoke inhalation.

At last report a thorough search of the scene is planned for the moment the ruins are ruled safe for entry. There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
