The pilot of a small plane that crashed Sunday by Beaverlodge was a member of the Alberta Forest Fire Service.
Mark David Christensen, 42, a resident of Wetaskiwin was killed in the crash. A passenger in the plane, an employee of the government department, is recovering in hospital.
RCMP were called when the aircraft, which was searching for possible fires, failed to check into its base in Grande Prairie.
Searchers found the plane in a marshy area near Beaverlodge. The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
