The Fort St. John Paladin Black Sox played a solid seven innings in a must win game on Wednesday night against the Rycroft Rage. Down two games to one in the best of five series it was do or die for the home side.
The Sox started early scoring three runs in the first inning and then adding two more in the third. Meanwhile a combination of pitching and defense kept Rycroft batters off the bases. It wasn’t until the fifth inning that Rage finally got some base runners and a run to make the score 5-1. Fort St. John finished the scoring adding one in the bottom of the sixth to make the final 6-1.
Ryan Stickel picked up the win. Danny Pappin Brett Loney and Bryan Lewis all had good nights at the plate, going two for three.
Game five goes on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Rycroft. The Sox have to figure out a way to win on the road as the home team has won all games so far in the series. The winner of the game goes up against Grande Prairie in the finals.
