As precipitation moves across the Prince George Fire Centre fire activity hasdecreased and new fire starts are minimized. The fire danger rating is decreasing as the rain cools the air andmoistens the forest floor. The Prince George Fire Centre has moved from an Extreme and High toModerate fire danger rating.
The Swanson Road fire north of Cluculz Lake has been fully contained. Wildfire fighters
extinguished smouldering areas within the fire’s perimeter and are now patrolling the fire.
Lightning caused 22 new fire starts on Saturday, totalling 44 new fire starts since Friday,
the majority of which are less than one hectare in size. There are no fires of note at this time.
Although the danger is decreasing, it remains important that the public is diligent
when using fire. Please ensure fires are completely extinguished before leaving a site.
The Prince George Fire Centre covers from the Yukon and Northwest Territories in the
north, to Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, Cottonwood River and Robson Valley in the south; and
from the Alberta border in the east to the Skeena Mountains in the west.Geographically this area extends from Kinbasket Lake in the south to Endako in the west, north to the Yukon border and east to the Alberta border.
