Female Dead in Accident North of Dawson Creek

A 23 year-old female is dead following an accident this morning north of Dawson Creek.

Dawson Creek RCMP were called at about 8:45 this morning to the scene of a motor vehicle wreck discovered in a farmer’s field. The wreckage was located near the juncture of 212 Road and the 219 Road approximately 5 km north of Dawson Creek.

Police found a vehicle, a black Kia SUV, resting on its roof. Initial indications are that the vehicle was northbound on 212 Road when it veered off the roadway as it approached a turn. The vehicle passed through the field, turning end over end, crossing a clump of small trees and bush before coming to rest.

Speed is believed to be a contributing factor. The 30 year-old male driver of the vehicle was taken to Dawson Creek Regional Hospital in critical condition. His 23 year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Regional Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing; the names of the parties have yet to be released pending notification of next of kin.
