He says the increases in feed prices could then more than offset any improvement in the yearling market.
Meanwhile, ranchers and farmers in the Peace are again in need of moisture. Fort St. John received only 37% of its normal amount of precipitation in June and has recorded only about 22% of the July average.
June and July are normally the area’s highest months for precipitation averaging a combined total of 155 mm from 1971 to 2000.
However, this year the total is less than 45mm, with only 11 days left in July and no precipitation forecast for the first 5 days of that period.
