On the west coast of Vancouver Island, environmentalists in Clayoquot Sound near Tofino, are ready for a fight.
The group Friends of Clayoquot Sound say the provincial mines ministry is “on notice,” for approving exploratory drilling, in the environmentally sensitive area.
However, Graham Keevil of Selkirk Metals says, the company is only looking for copper and, a decision to mine won’t come anytime soon.
He also claims the native band, which claims the territory as it’s own, has approved the exploratory drilling.
