A local man has been sentenced to 2 years in jail, stemming from a police chase 5 months ago. Joshua Victor Osmond was arrested on February 20th of this year, after he was pulled over in his vehicle by local RCMP.
Osmond attempted to flee from police in his vehicle, leading to a short chase in which he rammed two police cruisers and a parked civilian vehicle. He was soon blocked off, at which point he fought with police and threw what is believed to be powdered cocaine in their faces.
He was eventually subdued and the officers were treated for minor injuries.
Osmond was convicted of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.
