As a result of the ongoing work of the Fort St. John RCMP’s Drug Section, working in conjunction with the North District Regional General Investigation Section, the following drug seizures and arrests have been made:
On June 20, 2008, The Fort St. John RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the 9700 block at 96th Ave. to recover stolen property. During the search, approximately half pound of cocaine, ecstacy pills and over $5,000 in cash was seized. One 40 year-old female is charged for possession of cocaine, one 33 year- old male and one 43 year-old male are both charged for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property. The female and 43 year-old male will be making their first appearance in Fort St. John Provincial Court on August 20, 2008.
On June 21, 2008, The Fort St. John Drug Section arrested a male after a traffic stop near the 9100 block of 96 Street turned up 15 grams of cocaine and close to $2,000 in cash. Charged for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking is Brian Gregory Byrne. Byrne was also charged for three separate breaches of his recognizance. Byrne had been previously charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking in September, 2007, and trafficking in January of 2008. Byrne will be appearing in Court to face these charges.
On June 26, 2008, the Fort St. John Crime Reduction Team and the Fort St. John Drug Section arrested two males for trafficking cocaine after a vehicle stop in the 9600 block of 100th St. Approximately 2 ounces of cocaine and a quantity of cash were seized. Daniel Martin Thomas has been charged for trafficking cocaine and has been held in custody. Subsequent investigation discovered approximately 10 more ounces of cocaine located in Thomas’ hotel room.
On June 27, 2008, the North District Regional GIS and the Fort St. John Drug Section received information on 2 kilogram level cocaine dealers in the Fort St. John Area. A search warrant was prepared and executed at an apartment residence on 89th Ave. near 86th St. During the search, 2 ounces of cocaine, a large container of GHB and several thousand dollars in cash was found. A large quantity of "Support Hell’s Angels" paraphernalia was also found during the search. As the investigation continued, approximately 1.8 pounds of cocaine were seized from a second location. Three people are facing a variety of charges under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. One of the subjects, Michael Warner of Fort St. John, was held in police custody, while two others, from Chilliwack, were released on bail, under condition to remain outside 100 km of Fort St. John except for the purposes of Court.
On June 28, 2008, the North District Regional GIS and the Fort St. John Crime Reduction Team received information from the public relating to a cocaine trafficker. A Fort St. John male was located conducting a drug transaction and was subsequently located with a quantity of crack cocaine. The 20 year-old male, who will make an appearance in court at a later time, has been charged for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
On June 28, 2008 Information from the public also lead the North District RCMP and the Fort St. John Drug Section to an arrest of another Fort St. John drug trafficker in the 107th block of 99th Ave. When the RCMP attempted to make the arrest for trafficking cocaine, the suspect made an unsuccessful attempt to flee on foot. A 40 year-old male will make his first appearance in court on September 3, 2008.
