The Province has announced a program to help small businesses recruit, train and retain employees. The Ministry of Small Business and Revenue will be selecting up to five proposals for an 18 month pilot program. Approximately 10 million dollars from the Labour Market Agreement will go towards the development of these projects on an annual basis. The programs eligible for funding include but are not limited to, those in support of skills training, ranging from training in basic skills, such as literacy and numeracy, to advanced skills training; on-the-job training and workplace-based skills upgrading.
