Support Fort St John News

In the South Peace, the wildfire southwest of Tumbler Ridge, in the Windfall Creek area, at last word had grown to over 160 hectares.
It was still burning in very steep terrain, preventing heavy equipment operators from working safely.
40 firefighters are still working by hand to control the fire and, they were supported by two helicopters, bucketing water. More firefighters have been called in to help fight the blaze.
Air tankers are also available to support fire suppression efforts but, so far they haven’t been needed
