Doctors start training in Fort St. John & Dawson Creek

The first graduates of a program to keep local students who have trained to be doctors kicked off today.

The University of British Columbia Family Practice Residency Program welcomed 4 new residents to Fort St. John and the Peace Liard Region. These students have been training to be doctors and will spend 2 years here in Fort St. John as they conitinue their training.

Doctor MacKey with the Fort St. John Medical Clinic says this program is designed to help bring more doctors to rural areas.

The program is a joint partnership between the University of Northern BC and UBC.
