SemCams Pipeline Hearing

The National Energy Board has set October 28th as the hearing date for the Redwillow Pipeline Project in the South Peace at the Best Western Inn in Dawson Creek.

SemCams, Alberta’s largest licensed sour gas processor is, proposing to build the 150 kilometer pipeline, southwest of Tumbler Ridge, for just over 160 million dollars.

It would connect with the company’s existing gas transmission system near Grovedale, southwest of Grande Prairie.

It would transport 70 million cubic feet of sour gas daily, from two northeast BC producers but, there’s opposition on this side of the border.

The Peace River Regional District and the City of Fort St. John are among those who have filed for intervener status.

They’re arguing Alberta will benefit from housing all of the gas processing facilities.

It is presumed but not confirmed, the delay in the hearing, originally projected for this month, will push back SemCam’s proposed construction and start-up dates.

They had been tentatively set, for September this year and next year, respectively.
