According to latest reports strike action continues at 13 BClocations of Brandt Tractor, including Fort St. John and Fort Nelson.
The International Union of Operating Engineers reports it received a96 percent strike mandate, in a vote earlier this month, for thewalkout which began last week.
It says 163 workers are involved in the contract dispute, with theJohn Deere construction and forestry equipment dealer, which operatesin all four western provinces.
It claims the BC workers aren’t seeking anything which wouldjeopardize the firm’s future and, are merely asking for wage andpension parity with company colleagues.
It also argues the company is pressing for a continuation of what it calls, a two-tier wage and pension schedule.
The union says it willing to negotiate around the clock, seven daysa week to get a deal, but it adds, it’s been told in writing thecompany is not willing to meet until June 26th.
