With money still coming in, the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation isgetting very close to reaching, its 2008 Bluey Day fundraiser target,of 200 thousand dollars.
The running total now stands at 196 thousand and, all the moneyraised this year is going towards the purchase, of a CT scanner.
The Foundation is committed to raising one point three million dollars, of the total cost, of the Scanner project.
It will include major renovations to the hospital’s DiagnosticImaging Department and, the final price tag is estimated, at onemillion 750 thousand.
Still officials contend the cost it is minimal compared, to theoverall savings of resources, which will occur from having access to ascanner in the community.
Each year Fort St. John Hospital treats about 44 thousand emergencypatients, representing one of the highest ER rates in the province.
Last year over 300 people were transferred from the local hospitalfor an emergency CT scan and, local doctors made over two thousand referrals.
