In the South Peace, the Dawson Creek RCMP has confirmed the death of an eight year old girl, at Rolla Elementary School.
Police say the girl collapsed near noon yesterday in the school yard and, school staff administered first aid and called for assistance.
Emergency services responded within less than ten minutes and, the child was taken to Dawson Creek hospital by ambulance.
However, efforts to revive her there proved unsuccessful.
The cause of death has yet to be determined and, will require a medical examination.
Police have ruled out accidental death and foul play, and say out of respect for the family, the child’s name is not being released.
