Local volleyball player Winnipeg bound for Western Elite Championships

Cranston, who will play for the U16/17 Team B.C., has been sharpening his skills for the event for the past two and a half weeks at Kamloops’ Thompson River University.

It will be a tough test for Cranston and his fellow Team B.C. members, who will take on teams representing western Canadian provinces.

The tournament will run from Friday, July 27 until Sunday, July 29, taking place at various venues across Winnipeg.

Results will be posted following the weekend volleyball tournament.

The Western Elite Championships is targeted to Learning to Compete’s stage athletes and has been held annually each July since the 1980's.

The athletes competing in the event represent one of four participating provinces; including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
