McDonald sets new Bike Club record

It was a record breaking Thursday evening for the Blizzard Bike Club. On Thursday, July 5, the Club raced in another 16 km Baldonnel time trial, where Sandy McDonald set a new Club record, completing the course with a time of 25:26 minutes.

Pat Ferris finished in second place only eight seconds behind McDonald at 25:34, while Roger St. Jean rounded out third place at 26:19.

Dawit Bekele took first in the 8 km event, placing first with a time of 15:20. Tanner McCracken came second at 17:45, while third place went to Barb Polehoykie at 19:37.

It will be a busy upcoming weekend for the local cycling club, as some of the Club members will be racing in the 160 km Merckx GranFondo, taking place in Penticton.

Club members Tammy and Richard Howes will continue to race in the seven stage B.C. Cup Mountain Series, being raced in Vancouver, while locally, the Club will be holding a Beatton Loop road Race this Sunday, July 8, beginning from Humpty’s at 10 a.m.
