Energetic Roller Derby opening season with home bout

Fort St. John’s group of roughhousing roller-girls are preparing for another season. This Saturday, June 23, the Pomeroy Sport Centre will be home to the season opening bout for this year’s Roller Derby, as the Energetic City Roller Derby take on Rated PG Rollergirls.

The first match of the season will begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening to the public at 6 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from one of the team’s derby girls, costing only $6, or tickets can be bought at the door of the event for $8. Admission is free for kids 5 and under.

The event will be looking to support the local food bank, as organizers are asking anyone in attendance to please bring a non-perishable food item.

Speaking of delicious food, there will also be concessions available for those in attendance.

Along with an entertaining roller derby bout, the Fort St. John team is also asking for the audience’s participation in helping to pick a team name for this season. Present at the event will be a ballot box open to the public to submit their original ideas.

For more information on the event or to request the purchase of pre-sale tickets, email info@energeticcityrollerderby.ca.
