Smoke from nearby fires blows into Fort St. John

The air in Fort St. John is smoky today, due to two nearby wildfires. Lightning sparked a fire Thursday off the Milligan Creek Road, 106 kilometres north of Fort St. John that has grown to 800 hectares.

Although the fire has crossed Milligan Road, it remains open to traffic.
An 8,000 hectare fire along the Alberta border is also blowing smoke into the city. That fire is located 25 kilometres north of the Chinchaga River, and while there is a camp and plant nearby, they are not being threatened at this time.
