Starting Friday, July 27, the City of Dawson Creek and the Village of Pouce Coupe will be under stage 3 water conservation measures. That means residents are no longer allowed to water their lawns, as well as fill or re-fill of ponds, swimming pools, fountains and hot tubs.
The watering ban also applies to newly seeded or turfed areas, as no new permits will be given, and previously issued ones are no longer valid.
Watering flower and vegetable gardens, planters, shrubs and trees is still allowed, as long as it is done with a hose that has an automatic shut off device. Residents can wash their boats, RVs and motor vehicles only if it is necessary to operate the vehicle properly and clean the licence plate.
These measures will help conserve the water that is still available until the river levels rise.
