RCMP investigating roadside fires

Local authorities are currently investigating a group of small fires which occurred Thursday afternoon. At approximately 2:30 p.m. of Thursday, July 5, Fort St. John RCMP received a report of three small fires on Milligan Creek Petroleum Development Road, located north of Fort St. John.

Upon arrival, Canadian Natural Resource crews spotted the fires immediately, extinguishing the flames which resulted in very minimal damage.

According to the Fort St. John RCMP, the three fires were small in size and contained within the ditch alongside the road.

Following the extinguishing of the fires, B.C. Forestry attended the area to determine that there was no further risk of ignition.

Currently, the incident continues to be investigated and is being treated as suspicious in nature.
