Final day for feedback as B.C. Hydro plans for growing demand

B.C. Hydro is preparing for the growing demand for electricity in the province, and is asking for your help. Based on the public's input last year, a draft Integrated Resource Plan has been prepared, and Hydro is now holding consultation meetings to gather feedback.

B.C. Hydro expects the province's electricity demands to increase by 50 per cent over the next 20 years, due to economic expansion and population growth. The draft IRP proposes what the company will do to meet that demand.

In order to get feedback, B.C. Hydro will be conducting stakeholder meetings, public open houses, webinars, and First Nations workshops across the province from May 28 to July 6, 2012. The only public open house in the region took place Wednesday, June 6 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Quality Inn Northern Grand. A stakeholder meeting was also held earlier that day.

The draft Integrated Resource Plan will be available online as of May 28, along with a Consultation Discussion Guide and Feedback Form. If you are unable to make the public meeting, there will also be two webinars held from 12 to 1 p.m. on June 25 and 26. You can sign up here.

Anyone interested in providing feedback only has one more day to do so, as the deadline for feedback submissions is Friday, July 6.
