Treaty 8 receives further funding to look into wind farm

The proposal include building a wind monitoring tower on Mount Lavitah, located just southeast of the District of Mackenzie, south of the Pine Pass.

In a previous interview with Moose FM/energeticcity.ca, Treaty 8 Land and Resources Director Kieran Broderick said they have been collecting data for the past four years, and are using this funding to hire a wind energy company to analyze that data. They will look at overlapping tenures, and other constraints, as well as a layout design for the potential turbine, potential costs, and the electrical layout and grid.

"Once we have all this work done, then we'll move to put together a business case, and it will determine the viability of this project moving forward," he said.

Broderick hopes that the Treaty will have a better indication of the project by this fall.
