$30,000 grant for new Fort St. John skate park

The City of Fort St. John has received further funding for its new skate park. It was announced today that the project will receive $30,000 towards the building of a new skate park in the Energetic City.

The new funding comes from the Northern Development Initiative Trust, which was applied for last week.

That's in addition to the $448,800 from the Ministry of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development announced in March, which created $111,000 in a loan from the City. This $30,000, and the $22,670 raised as of May 14, 2012, will help offset that amount.

The ultimate fundraising goal for the park is $600,000, and it's looking more and more likely that will become a reality. The final size of the project will depend on the amount of money raised.

The park will be located in a 25,000 square foot area at the corner of 93 Avenue and 93 Street.
