Instead, the two were assaulted by the three others, eventually moving into the washroom where the deceased was found unconscious by security and paramedics.

The 28-year old was found around 9:30 p.m. during the Hedley concert, and succumbed to his injuries in the Dawson Creek Hospital. The second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

As alcohol was a factor in the incident, Smith says it's likely that emotions got the better of the three assailants. All five people involved reside in Fort St. John, and the two victims were not known to police. The three suspects were arrested in a different drinking establishment, and are currently in RCMP custody.
